There is one other thing worth mentioning.  In the past, the person who
gently "enforced" the etiquette rules (Jo Anne) was not a list owner.  I
think that is a good idea.  The warnings she gave were warning about being
about to accidently say things one would regret later and starting to
irritate friends without knowing it, not warnings of being one step closer
to banishment  for unspecified crimes. The only power she really had was the
power to help us see how we looked to others.

FWIW, I don't fault Eileen much at all in this.  I'm guessing that it
started when Jeroen complained to the other listowners about being
mistreated.  One other listowner was his MUD buddy,  who read a few posts,
and trusted his judgement and did as he asked.  The other was an active list
participant who had a more personal feel for what is going on here, and
didn't do as he asked.  Personally, I don't think anyone should be put in
the position Eileen was/is put in.
