giving equal agressive tech, governments and the rich will be able to
afford much stronger *defensive* tech than the average person and will
have much greater motivation to employ it. Thus in Kiln People we find
Univeral Kiln using plausible means to defend its secrets while our heros
resort to highly improbable means to defeat those measures
Not sure what you mean here. Given the implausible nature of the entire premise (as interesting as it is I don't see this as even remotely possible). Given the technology what is wrong with having a specialized golum that could do what the Albert bot did.
As an aside I enjoyed all of the word play in the book; reminded me of Practice Effect one of my favorite Brin books and like Kiln interesting for the pure originality of its premise (probably directly correlated with its improbability).
