I saw the ad as akin to all the extraneous stuff in _Earth_,
and think it was included to help complete the picture we have of
the book's world.
No higher level of consciousness was immediately forthcoming,
and the book narrated the first few steps of the search for it. It
might be a gradual process, where people explore the spiritual realm
one small step at a time.
