I thought we agreed to stop with this subject. <SIGH>
I think "security" is a key word here. Hotel management feels that Israeli
guests would be in danger and would put in danger it's other guests. It's
their right to decide how they can serve their guests best. <SHRUG>. Same
goes for wearing Magen-David. Israeli tourists are been told again and again
to keep low profile abroad - for their security - to hide things that mark
them immediately as Israelis. How they obey? Not football fans. I was out of
Israel only four times. Three times the terminal was announced at last
possible minute. Not because somebody has a grudge (sp) against people who
are going to Israel, but to prevent attacks that happened in Rome and in
Vienna.
As for Christians who want to be life shields. Did somebody think for a
minute, that may be they are bothered by what Christians have done in Sabrah
and Shatila? So now they want to protect Palestinian ambulances. I can send
WMV file about what was found in one of them to everyone that want me to
(1200K). I am not saying that there are explosives and armed man in every
Palestinian ambulance, not every ambulance used to be checked and of those
who were checked only about 70% were not very ambulance-like.:-( (I think
in our explanation (?) office are sitting idiots - most of material are
available only in Hebrew or in Arabic. To whom they are trying to explain
what going on here, to Arafat?) To protect those ambulances they need to get
first to fighting zone. You know what? I think our government is stupid
enough to let them.
Why it would not work (for Israel) "to protect both sides"? First - pls take
a look at what is going on on our North border now. Wasn't UN supposed to
prevent just that? Where are they? Would they try prevent Israel from
retaliating? I think that they would, but may be it's paranoia speaking.
<SHRUG> - So given *this* experience, how can I believe that they will
protect me *in* Israel? Second - in Israel it would be very tough job - it
is no problem to recognize uniformed Israeli soldier or policeman, but how
can you recognize not-uniformed terrorist *before* he sticks the knife or
blows himself to pieces *with* other people? (and whoever thinks that he
will think twice seeing UN uniforms - can think again. UN observers were
killed here not long ago - they were shot, Palestinian who shot them, heard
them calling and saw their uniforms). So what they would be able to do? Not
to protect Israel from attacks, but to protect Palestinians from Israeli
retaliations. Do you think that this will lower amount of terrorist attacks
here? If you do, explain me your logic, pls. *I* think that this will bring
only more attacks.
Can we move to another subject now?
