I am not being sarcastic, and I am not attempting to trivialise a point. I was asking a simple question about why people say "3,000 American citizens were killed" when in fact several (hundreds?) of the victims were of other nationalities. Such a message suggests that the loss of American lives was horrible, but the loss of non-American lives was not important.
