Every single one plays / works differently (with the exception of 3jp and
5jp).  I suggest FF6, or Chrono Trigger Or Xenogears (which is kind of
disturbing in some ways).

Chrono Trigger and Xenogears are masterpieces.

Personally I want to someday make a massively multi-player game based
around mechanics similar to Final Fantasy Tactics, but with more of a
dynamic world that grows / ages.

I was referring to my current understanding of Total Annihilation.
