Well-put, Erik. It's the 'trying to inflict' part that I find the most trying. :-) IMHO there's been a deplorable amount of that going around. Whatever. There's no question in my mind that, as He told me, there are lots of incredibly bright people on this list. However, 'way too much of the traffic over the last few weeks has been invective and polemic, and the signal-to-noise ratio is just too poor -- trying to deal with it is a waste of my already oversubscribed mental bandwidth. So I bid you adieu, Brin-Lers. It was an interesting year.
