What did the Bush adminstration do with the recommendations of Sandy Berger for the months prior to 9/11? Do you really believe that "left wing" theorists do not want to fight terrorism? Does a respect for the basic freedoms that are our constitutional rights really have to jetisoned to protect us? Where is the leftist plan for education other than > writing blank checks? As opposed to the conservative plan of writing no checks at all? I know that is a cheap shot but to be honest I have looked and looked and can't find a place where the left has enunciated a policy of "write blank checks". What is the big republican iniative? Vouchers. A great free market strategy that ignores the fact that there are large group of students that are more expensive to educate because of poverty illness disability. Where is the left-wing plan on the environment,> other than ever-more > draconian regulation? As opposed to the republican policy of no regulation. Face it John, the envrionment can be damaged and the government has a responsibility to limit that damage. Where is the left-wing plan > for keeping Medicare and Social Security > solvent other than hiking taxes? > What is the republican plan? Wistfull thinking. We can cut taxes and still pay for medical care.I don't understand the math here. It is seems real simple to me. We have x number of people (x is going up a lot real soon in case you haven't noticed). We have many new devices treatments and drugs that will make the lives of x better but it will cost y money. x times y is the amount of money we need. Since x and y are both increasing how do you propose to pay for it? Privatize medicare? Yeah HMOs have really worked for the population in general? Just pay the docs less to do the same things or more things (the current strategy). That works short term but as medical professionals have to work longer to make less money the field becomes less attractive and bright people choose other professions. _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
