Of all the relentlessly partisan sillinesses, this
tops the cake.

A four star general who was a Rhodes Scholar (YOU were
waving academic credentials) who was recommended by
his peers to the President to be chosen for the very
top command in all the military, command of NATO...

... who then handled BOTH the delicate diplomacy and
the strategic decisions involved in our most
intricate, complex and vastly most successful war in
all of history...

this is the guy who the fanatic-Limbaughite slander
machine is gearing up against now. I can't wait to
hear the sly lies and innuendos they come up with THIS
time.

Oh and I talk to generals and admirals regularly.
They all like him.

But that misses the point. It is the REFLEX of
partisanship that intrigues me. I must come from
different genetic stock. My reflex is to poke away at
any rigid doctrine I happen to meet. For the last few
days it was Gautam's and John's retro-rightwing
partisanship. Next week I am to take on some
liberals. (What fun!)

Deep down, I find you guys so incredibly puzzling.

Oh, on the other matter, it is common to conflate
"fascism" with 'dictatorship". They are not the same
things. They usually overlap. But fascism is a
socialist-syndicalist-nationalist movement. The
symbol of the fasci says it all. It creates a rigidly
identified 'party" and holds that it is purely
virtuous and deserving of monopolized power, lest
nasty unsavory "others" succeed in their vile schemes.

Sound familiar? ;-)

Now I really am outta here. Please folks. Edit Brin:
off this continuing discussion. I gotta go back to
work.

Until next time!
