Yes, but ages later, folks are dwelling more on what Houston did for
Texas than what the secessionists did. Texas got over the Civil War
sooner than a lot of other southern states. (It helped that things
hadn't been devastated here as badly as they had been in some other
places.)

history is important to Texans now, what they emphasize.
