Interesting that you point to the expression of opinon by two list members
who've been here longer than me (I've been here since '99), and who have
always been very much in the minority on this list as the cause of the
decrease in diversity.  May I suggest that, instead of pointing to two list
members expressing  minority opinons that fly in the face of the
overwhelming majority of list members (assuming only 20 active posters,
they represent 10% of the active list membership), one can instead look
towards the loss of the heart of the list dropping our tolerance for
diversity.  Indeed, I would suggest that pointing to a small group of
people expressing unpopular opinions (with respect to this list at least)
as the casue for lack of diversity is symptematic of the lowering of
tolerance for diversity.
