Yeah I know what you mean, there was a change in trends a while ago when everyone started playing continuation on pick calls, and then on whether it was before or after the throw, but now I've noticed people think more about whether it actually affected the play. Would be a different game if the same were true of travel calls.
Anyway, I'm intruiged and excited to find out about the WFDF V. 2007 rules document (Version .06.05.31 - that means it was last saved on 31st May 2006, right?), seems like I was wrong about the WFDF committee's priorities, and I'm looking forward to playing under a new ruleset once it gets finalised. This might be an appropriate time to mention that Uni Ultimate has finished it's two year long trial of the Callahan Goal rule, and the e-AGM members in June were asked: "UU have now been trialling the Callahan Goal for two years so a decision has to be made. We can either accept the rule full-time or reject it. In addition we can recommend to other bodies that it be considered there. Questions: Do we want to have different rules from the UKUA Tour & WFDF? Do we want to ask WFDF to consider the addition of the rule and wait? Does the Callahan Goal in UU not UKUA confuse newer players? o Stick with WFDF rules o Stick with WFDF rules & recommend inclusion of Callahan Goal o Include Callahan Goal in University Ultimate rules" The results were: "POLL QUESTION: Callahan Trial Stick with WFDF rules was the favourite with 52% of the vote however the preferred option was to recommend that the WFDF consider the inclusion of the rule." This sounds ambiguous, but I'm sure that Ed will confirm this means 52% of the voters went for EITHER stick with WFDF and recommend inclusion of Callahan Goal or just stick with WFDF. Which means 48% of the UU population (or at least the captains told to represent their teams general opinion) voted to disregard the leading questions and continue to play by the Callahan Goal rules. What I mean by leading questions is that they knowingly chose to have different rules from the UKUA Tour & WFDF, even at the risk of confusing newer players. They also chose to ignore the suggestion to "ask WFDF to consider the addition of the rule and wait" - 48% of them wanted to adopt the Callahan Goal immediately and permanently, regardless of the consequences for UKUA events. Ed can you clear up the ambiguity and give individual %'s for how many wanted to recommend / not recommend that the WFDF include the Callahan Goal rule? At least 74% so far chose to adopt or recommend...
