This whole scheduling argument is leaving me confused (not a mammoth
task admittedly); Do we want good solid schedules with realtively
evenly spaced games which was a complaint about the first one or
schedules that allow us to fit outside commitments in during a weekend
of ultimate? People seem to complain no matter what because everybody
wants their cake and to eat it.
The argument that we are different as a sport is rubbish; sorry to
anyone offended by this but it is. Someone made the point that by
supporting other sports we show that we can appreciate sporting skill
or whatever. The same person continued to make a point that we should
demonstrate that we are above the petty bitching about sports; is that
a holier than thou attitude forming? If so that is no better than
football.
Ultimate as a sport is quite often mocked by other sports teams at the
university for "not being a propper sport". Tour (Open/Womens/Mixed)
is the top level of playing in this country and as such some vague
sense of professionalism should be applied (which it is through kit
rules etc). Find me another sport in which they would stop halfway
through the tournament to show any other sporting event? Imagine if
we did get spectators "Sorry could you all please stop watching what
you've come to watch, the players wish to watch the football."
Why can't someone just record it and show it at the party? People
could avoid radios and TVs during the day and then in the evening sit
back and watch the football. Currently because of the football gap in
the schedule I will have to play two games back to back and then spend
a few hours doing nothing before my final game of the day.
I know this seems angry and I appreciate that the organisers who were
probably put under pressure by quite a few imbeciles to give everyone
a break to watch the football. I think the fact that many teams have
said that they will try to play in the gap is admirable, we are all
paying to play frisbee not sit down in a pub - I can do that without a
tournament fee.
Sorry to any/all offended, my views no-one elses,
Special
