A little snippet of a reply to Dave, that has some relevance and only a
modicum of what for me passes as humour.
One of the joys of Ultimate is that the rules basically say that the
captains can agree whatever they like and get away with it, so you can move
your game against High Altitude if you want, or decide to play tiddly winks
instead. Many people watching the cup final would be grateful that you have
so they can listen to an interesting stat from Motty rather than cries of
"get up ya big Jessie" etc
I'm already aware that two teams who's captains have agreed to move their
game to the FA Cup Final Slot which is fine as long as you all have shorts
of the same colour!!

Ultimate as a sport is quite often mocked by other sports teams at the
university for "not being a propper sport". Tour (Open/Womens/Mixed)
is the top level of playing in this country and as such some vague
sense of professionalism should be applied (which it is through kit
rules etc). Find me another sport in which they would stop halfway
through the tournament to show any other sporting event? Imagine if
we did get spectators "Sorry could you all please stop watching what
you've come to watch, the players wish to watch the football."
Why can't someone just record it and show it at the party? People
could avoid radios and TVs during the day and then in the evening sit
back and watch the football. Currently because of the football gap in
the schedule I will have to play two games back to back and then spend
a few hours doing nothing before my final game of the day.
I know this seems angry and I appreciate that the organisers who were
probably put under pressure by quite a few imbeciles to give everyone
a break to watch the football. I think the fact that many teams have
said that they will try to play in the gap is admirable, we are all
paying to play frisbee not sit down in a pub - I can do that without a
tournament fee.
