Hi Sean,
I studied "Web Interface of BRL-CAD" code base, project done
by Harmanpreet Singh.
As mentioned by you, the project is in core PHP.
I propose to proceed for this project in following steps.
1. Convert back end to MVC framework, Code Igniter (CI) as proposed in my
previous mail. (Or Larvel) whichever approved.
2. Make authentication, work with CI.
3. Improve existing front end with bootstrap to work with CI.
4. If time permits, other front end enhancements during GSOC. (Or after
GSOC).
