The answer is No. Khmer Rouge didn't kill people because those people opposed them. They had their own goal, which was to make a pure communist Cambodia. They killed those whom they believed to be unpure. It means that they had carried something in life that would taint their revolution. China did the same thing during their revolution. Then those people would become the concrete foundation of their revolution? That was exactly what Khmer Rouge were trying to do. If Vietnamese did come, millions more of Cambodians would have been vanished, not because they were opposing the regime.
