All Horoscopes: http://web1.nypost.com/cgi-bin/horoscope.pl
ARIES
Your No. 1 problem at the moment seems to be that you are working more for other
people than you are for yourself. It is time to get a grip on the situation and let
those who are taking advantage of your generous nature know that this is as far as it
goes. It would help, of course, if you mean it, too.
1-900-990-7810*
TAURUS
Don't take too much for granted today because the planets warn you could easily kid
yourself into believing that certain things are true when they clearly are not true -
and that could be a costly mistake for you. If you must take a risk of some kind, wait
until the sun moves into one of the more positive areas of your chart at the weekend.
1-900-990-7811*
GEMINI
The most important thing today is that you spell out in plain and simple language what
it is you expect of other people. Both at home and at work, misunderstandings are
likely to occur, so take your time and make sure everyone knows what he is supposed to
be doing - and, if you make sure of that and things still go wrong even then, don't
make matters even worse by getting angry.
1-900-990-7812*
CANCER
By all means, listen to what friends and family members tell you today, but don't
think for a moment that you have to follow their advice. With Mercury, planet of
communication, opposing Uranus, planet of surprises, you must act on the assumption
that you have not heard the whole story. Use your Cancerian intuition to fill in the
gaps.
1-900-990-7813*
LEO
You need to be extra careful when dealing with other people today. That applies to all
areas of your life, but especially to money matters and business issues, where you
could be easily misled. Anything that sounds as if it is too good to be true most
likely is too good to be true, so don't let your enthusiasm get the better of you - it
could cost you dearly.
1-900-990-7814*
VIRGO
It might be wise to bite your tongue and keep your thoughts to yourself today. With
Mercury, planet of communication, moving through your birth sign, that won't be easy,
but other aspects warn that if you speak too freely, it could rebound on you in ways
you had not expected. Criticism will not go down well at all over the next 24 hours.
1-900-990-7815*
LIBRA
Sometimes in life things happen for no apparent reason, and if you keep that thought
in mind today, you should be able to keep your blood pressure down. If anything gets
you upset or uptight, you should just treat it as if it does not really matter - even
if, deep down, it matters to you a lot. You have to stay calm for the sake of your
health.
1-900-990-7816*
SCORPIO
Don't think too hard about things that appear to be illogical. Since Mercury, planet
of the mind, opposes Uranus, planet of eccentricity, today, a number of strange, even
bizarre, things are likely to happen, but none of them can do you any harm, so don't
take them too seriously. More to the point, don't take yourself too seriously!
1-900-990-7817*
SAGITTARIUS
This is not a good day to announce your plans to the world or in any other way let
those you live and work with know what you are up to. You don't have to be dishonest
about it, but you do have to keep your ideas to yourself, because if you speak too
soon, you will give your rivals a chance to scupper your plans.
1-900-990-7818*
CAPRICORN
One of the best times of the year begins for you at the weekend, when the sun moves
into your fellow earth sign of Virgo. However, don't get too excited about it because
there is still time to make mistakes, and today's planetary setup warns that you need
to take extra care when dealing with travel plans and social arrangements.
1-900-990-7819*
AQUARIUS
You want to get things moving today; you want to get things finished. However, those
you are counting on to help will either let you down or drag their feet for no good
reason. There is no point getting angry about it because, for the time being at least,
the ball is in their court. But you won't forget their attitude and one day you'll get
even.
1-900-990-7808*
PISCES
There seems to be a mental block between you and other people at the moment, no doubt
caused by Mercury, planet of communication and the mind, moving retrograde through
your opposite sign of Virgo. There is not much you can do about it but wait for the
cosmic tide to turn. It won't be long before you are back on the same wavelength.

HAMM-TASTIC!: http://www.nypost.com/sports/27115.htm
BY MIKE VACCARO
ATHENS A few times in an athlete's career, if he's lucky, he has the chance to make
amends for allowing a terrible goal, letting a ball roll through his legs, dropping a
catch in the end zone.
A few times in an athlete's career, if he's lucky, he's given the chance to
perform what he does as well as he's ever performed it, with all the money on the
table and no margin for error. Make the shot. Throw the touchdown pass. Get the run in
from third.

GOLDEN GIRLS: http://www.nypost.com/sports/27096.htm
ATHENS - The kids with the wide eyes and the bright smiles, they can't understand.
They weren't there. They've grown up in a time in which "East Germany" is stricken
from the world's atlases and globes, removed from the list of nations that once made
sleep come less easily at night.

HE'S THE ANSWER: http://www.nypost.com/sports/27111.htm
 BY MIKE VACCARO
ATHENS This may be hard to fathom, because reputation is a difficult thing to
repudiate, but it really is time for the U.S. men's basketball team to fall in line
behind its captain. In most cases, this wouldn't be such an astonishing requirement,
turning to the captain for leadership. It's what captains do, after all.

VAN DEN WHO?: http://www.nypost.com/sports/27098.htm
 By MIKE VACCARO
ATHENS - Pieter van den Hoogenband wasn't looking for revenge. He really wasn't. His
goals are simpler than that. His focus is more basic.

MARKET REPORT: http://www.nypost.com/realestate/18620.htm
By ALISON ROGERS
WHENI started this column, I wanted to talk about interest rates. Really. After all,
the Federal Reserve hiked the short-term rate a quarter point this week. That caused
lots of people to wonder what would happen to long-term mortgage rates. Some experts
had been bandying about "7 percent"- you would have thought that was a magical number
for long-term mortgage rates. But then I called Gregory J. Heym, chief economist of
Brown Harris Stevens, the Manhattan-based brokerage firm. And he points out that
there's a magical 7 percent stat, but hey, it's about the economy. "The city's economy
grew 7 percent in the first quarter," Heym says. "That's the largest growth rate since
the fourth quarter of 1999. " I have to tell you, 7 percent job growth is huge. "The
city started to add jobs last year," Heym continues. "We had this tremendous boom in
Manhattan real estate over the last five years, and the city lost jobs left and
right. Now you have job growth." In other words, you had b
uyers before, and now you have more people with jobs - more potential buyers.
Thursday's 30-year mortgage rate of 5.8 percent (a fourmonth low!) probably won't stop
them. Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

YOUNG NEW YORKERS ARE NOW FINDING EXCITEMENT IN THE 'BURBS:
http://www.nypost.com/realestate/18621.htm
By LISA KEYS
ANNMARIE BUTLER, 25, and her roommate, Kirsten Leahy, 26, know how to have fun. In the
evenings, they hit the local bars with their friends; on weekends, they like to shop
the boutiques on their street and linger over brunch. Meanwhile, Christine Simon, 29,
and her husband, Eric, 36, own a beautiful, open loft. They love to frequent the bars
on their block, and Christine somewhat sheepishly admits to "never cooking." These
four may sound like typical young Manhattanites - except they're not living in
Manhattan, or Brooklyn or even Staten Island. They're part of an increasingly younger
generation that's moving out of the city and rockin' the suburbs instead. Take Butler,
who shares a three-bedroom $1,800 rental in Rye. Every day, she commutes to Manhattan
for her job at VH1, but in the evenings she's out and about close to home. "We're not
sitting up here in Westchester on Saturday nights watching TV," she says. "There are
plenty of things to do." Maybe it's a part of the grea
t leveling of American culture, a phenomenon that has broughtBlahniks out to the
'burbs while ushering Applebees into Manhattan. Perhaps it's a function of the
sky-high housing prices in the city. Whatever the reason, towns like Stamford,
Greenwich and Bronxville are rapidly transforming from old-fashioned bedroom
communities into lively mini-cities. And while sleepier suburbs remain familyoriented,
there are increasingly youthful residents in the mix. "I think there's a lot more

SPECIALTY LENDERS CAN HELP WHEN YOUR TRADITIONAL BANK SAYS NO:
http://www.nypost.com/realestate/18627.htm
By JULIETTE FAIRLEY
WHEN Maria Villafane's finances spiraled out of control in January 2004, she appealed
to her long-time traditional bank for a consolidation equity loan of $500,000. Her
Fort Greene, Brooklyn, four-family home was worth $1 million, but the bank loan
officer rejected her application, saying her $35,000 credit card debt was too high.
(An irony, given that she needed the money to help pay off her credit cards.) "I felt
betrayed because I'd been with them for a while now, but they didn't support me or
care about my situation," she says. A month later, the New York City Board of
Education executive assistant resorted to a specialty lender who approved her
refinancing request right away at an 8.35 percent interest rate. "I was afraid it
would be a scam but I got immediate help from the beginning to the end. It was the
best decision I ever made," Villafane says. With the proceeds from the refinancing,
Villafane paid off the higher interest credit card debt (which was costing her $90
0 a month in payments) and the $145,000 mortgage on a second property. While her
monthly mortgage payment went up to $4,026 per month - from $3,003 - she appreciates
the freedom of having consolidated her bills. Villafane's loan is one of many
refinancings. In the second quarter of 2004,
