Hi Julia,
Good for you on taking the focus off the potty training. That is one thing
you can't rush or it will just back fire. They will do it when they are
ready....
Does Katy act up if she goes to your mom's or if she's left with a
sitter? No (not sure about the sitter cause she never has one other than
family.
Does she go anywhere else without you? Just relatives. Lori is the
only external care giver.
You say Lori has been able to get food into her, do you know how she
does it or what she is giving her? I send Katy's lunch so its whatever I
give her. I tried giving Katy choices as to what is in her lunch and I
get told "nothing". So I end up having to make the choices for her. I try
to give her stuff she likes and eats at home for me. Is she still
eating well at Lori's? Not bad. We have lightened up a bit on this so I do
get stuff coming home sometimes. What does she eat at home? Same kind
of stuff I send in her lunches.
Maybe Lori could just make things more fun at her place so Katy was
happy to go. Tell her to lay off the food issue and let her eat what she
likes and not pressure her. Are there any things she likes? I think I'll
tell Lori not to focus on the food at all and see what happens. Perhaps
I'll just let Katy ask for food and see if that helps. My dad says she
will ask for food when she's hungry. She is very out of touch with her
body. We are working on that. She doesn't really say she's hungry she
gets bitchy and starts asking for treats when she's hungry. I've just
learned to read the signals.
She goes to Lori's 3 times a week.
Thanks for the support. Just cross your fingers =-)
Sam

I'm so sorry Samantha, this must be so difficult for you. I honestly don't
know what I'd do in your place.

I would be so upset if Aden acted like that before going to the YMCA. To be
honest if he made a fuss and didn't want to go day after day I would be
wanting to try him somewhere else. My husband drops Aden off in the morning
and some days he's a bit clingy and weepy but he sticks around 5-10 min
until he starts playing then he's fine. He was definitely more like that
after our holidays, I think it takes a little while to get back on schedule.

I rememeber when Aden was at our sitter she was wanting to get him potty
trained and he was starting to go sometimes on the potty. Well next thing
she was going full steam ahead and one told me he was not allowed outside to
play because he didn't go on the potty. The next day he wasn't allowed to
play downstairs with theother kids... I thought enough is enough! I'm not
ruining his whole day over going on the potty! I'm sure he will go when he
is ready. He is STILL not ready, he goes sometimes, but soemtimes he flat
out refuses. I think we're a ways off yet.
Anyways I truly hope things improve with Katy soon. So stressful for you!
Hopefully the psychologist will have some ideas for you. How many days is
she at Lori's this week?
Julia
