Just take a deep breath and remind yourself that Katy's behaviour is no reflection on you or your parenting. Katy, little though she is, is her own person. And how she behaves is up to her. My son at 2 1/2 can't tell when he's hungry either - I wonder when that ability kicks in? We have also just learned to recognize the signals - the grumpiness, etc. He doesn't even ask for food - we have to offer it and then he's OK to eat... Weird isn't it that recognizing hunger wouldn't be more innate...
Of course, after my 4 1/2 month old was up FOUR times last night, I'm also thinking it's weird that we have to "teach" our babies to sleep.
