Did you say they are "direct drive" ?  You will probably have to run 
those motors through a 3:1 reduction (or so)if your lead screws are 
5 turns per inch. 3 x 5 = 15 rpi.  15 x 1000(ppr) = 15000 pulses per 
inch.
