It was for me but I claimed diminished responsibility as I was following precisely the boat owner's instructions. John Chapman is used to instructing his wife "in reverse". If he wants the boat to go to port, he shouts "right" because that's how she has to move the tiller. he didn't change the chip when I was at the helm and so I clouted the pole enthusiastically with the bows of Frogmoore 2.
