Date - 2 Oct 06
Day - Monday
Start - 0930 All Oaks Corner- Brinklow
End - 1650 Dadlington - AshbyCanal

Last night the weather was not the best in the world with rain and gusty
winds, however by this morning, things had improved dramatically. It was
still a bit windy and cool with week sun and as the day progressed
things warmed up to a very pleasant afternoon until the clouds gathered
again and the showers started just before 5 pm when we tied up for the
night.
We pushed off at 9-30 by which time several boats had already left the
moorings. there were quite a few boats about as we made or way to Sutton
Stop were Diana made a perfect 180 deg turn onto the Coventry Canal. We
carried on passed Charity Dock before turning into the Ashby Canal at
ten past one. We found the Ashby quite easy going and averaged 3 mph for
the first 10 miles. The main thing we noticed since our last visit was
the new Trinity complex at Hinckley with a large marina and new pub, but
with overnight mooring at £5 per night I don't think we will be stopping
for a drink.
As we are not in a great hurry when it started to rain we decided to pull
over and moor to a convenient piece of piling just prior to bridge 31
Wooden Top Bridge at 1650 hrs.
