Indeed.

But I gotta say that it was good fun going up the Meuse in France,
where you set the locks in your favour from 200 m away with a
garage-door-opener, and cycle them once you are in simply by lifting a
bar in the lock wall once.  

I did miss the lockies, though, and it is sad how many French lock
cottages are now derelict..
