Take it as a few emphatic words of caution which you and I have once
again brought to fore. My family certainly, and most others I think,
behave differently in private compared with how they might in public.
In the boater's family we need to be on our best behaviour when out in
public, and we seem to agree that internal squabbles and prejudices
can/should be back burnered for the time being.
I suppose the question is whether this forum is "out in public" in the
sense that our opposition will be using it to determine chinks in our
armour. And our opposition is . . . ermm . . . the labour government,
I think.
Yesterday's "open" meeting was specifically about operations on a
reduced budget on a particular waterway and the number of side issues
thrown in from the boating community was confirmation of my own worst
fears, despite the Chairman's strong and repeated briefing.
