Sorry - I meant to say 'between Fradley and Great Haywood'. Monday morning, 
hadn't got my canal quizmaster's head on yet...

Yes, I'm aware of the history of the north end of the Coventry but that wasn't 
what I was referring to - that section does seem very busy at times too (I 
remember passing boats at five minute intervals the last time I was there), but 
as it doesn't have any locks it's not likely to cause much of a problem. 

The two sets of locks further south on the Coventry do seem to also involve 
queueing at times, but I think that's at least partly to do with them being 
very slow to fill. Did they ever have top gate paddles?

There's now a hireboat operation on the C&B, for those who don't fancy the trip 
from the Thames. Could make an excellent weekend break. Very scenic river, just 
a slight shortage of handy pubs.
