I don't have an angle grinder, but I'm hoping I can reach the bottom
with disks and wire brush on my drill.

I thought I'd probably use Hammarite on the base as that copes with
non-flaky rust quite well (probably geting cancer in the process with
all that toluene in a confined space), and the usual
oxide/undercoat/gloss up the sides (which are much less of a problem).

I will put something for the cylinders to rest on as I'm sure that has
been part of the problem.

The fall back is to leave it to the market ie pay someone else to do
it as it does seem both difficult, uncomfortable and a bit too
roughty-toughty for me.

Anyone else have any other experiences?
