Sorry you are marooned in York, Terry but I am enjoying your reports. We did
the same trip several years ago on Copperkins and we were lucky enough to be
able to cruise the Derwent and part of the Pocklington.
Your reports are bringing back pleasant memories. Did you get a plaque in
Ripon? When we moored there, I set off at a brisk jog and just got to the
plaque selling place before it closed.
When we left Selby to go to Naburn, there was much head scratching by the
lockie about whether to let us go or not as the river was running a bit
high. We realised the significance of this when we got to York and all the
moorings were under several feel of water. We had to go onto Linton Lock to
get moored. While there, we saw the seal which they reckoned had swum over
Naburn lock in high water and a mandarin duck. On the way back form Ripon,
there was a narrow boat started high and dry on the sand bar opposite the
lock. They had cut the corner rather than follow the buoys. An interesting
trip!
