Last time we were aboard Maximus (Sept) I took along my new slow
cooker (crock pot), to see how it did. Our inverter doesn't do
proper sine wave, but the cooker did absolutely fine. Runs a little
bit cooler, as the output of the inverter is below 240v, but that's
OK for new ones that otherwise tend to run a bit hot. The cooker uses
around 80/140 W (low/high).

So, for casseroles and pot roasts, massively cheaper than calor gas.

In the past we have tried a breadmaker on board, as it seems to
always be a battle getting good bread when we need it. Cheap ones
seemed to be OK, but the Panasonic was very unhappy on the output
from our particular inverter. A pure sine wave inverter is
presumably fine, and hopefully we'll have one someday!

Terry makes bread at home 2-3 times a week. At the moment, a loaf
costs about 29p, including electric. (Just did a calculation, pays
for itself in a year or less!)
