Do you know what the difference is,  are they brighter do they have any built 
in voltage protection

  I think the yellow ones are surface mount devices. They will not have
  pins in the same way as "ordinary" LEDs and are harder to work with.

protected from the environment by some sort of case otherwise they die very 
quickly.
