Actually, the new pontoons are quite commodious. So much so, in fact, that the outer one sticks out enough to make it more difficult to turn into the lock mouth on a falling tide. A shame BW didn't ask the users to comment on the design before building the thing. The new pontoons leap about a lot less than their predecessors. And cost a great deal more.
