as nasty as it looks it's not that bad if the hull is not compromised, one of 
the things you get practiced at if you surf as long as I have is fiberglass. 
there are many ways to fix this the easy way would be to use gel coat as the 
resin with some fiberglass matt as filler another way to do this repair is to 
glass on a sheet of fiberglass  then use a filler called cavasill this will 
turn the resin into a moldable paste they have the same thing for  epoxy which 
can also be used. Shape to the form you need cover with another layer of glass 
sand out apply gel coat. worked great doing this on my brothers boat held for a 
decade and still going strong. good luck with the repair

Good Morning all:
Impulsive broke free last fall during a nasty storm and pounding herself 
against the finger before I could tie her down.  The attached shows the damage 
to the starboard corner of the transom.  Been reading Casey, West System and 
surfing the net looking for information. One approach – sand edges of damaged 
area to a beveled edge, apply filler (resin+hardener+fairing filler), sand then 
paint.  
Any thoughts, ideas?
