as nasty as it looks it's not that bad if the hull is not compromised, one of the things you get practiced at if you surf as long as I have is fiberglass. there are many ways to fix this the easy way would be to use gel coat as the resin with some fiberglass matt as filler another way to do this repair is to glass on a sheet of fiberglass then use a filler called cavasill this will turn the resin into a moldable paste they have the same thing for epoxy which can also be used. Shape to the form you need cover with another layer of glass sand out apply gel coat. worked great doing this on my brothers boat held for a decade and still going strong. good luck with the repair
Subject: catalina27-talk: Gelcoat Damage Date: Fri, 30 Mar 2007 08:40:02 -0400From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [email protected] Good Morning all: Impulsive broke free last fall during a nasty storm and pounding herself against the finger before I could tie her down. The attached shows the damage to the starboard corner of the transom. Been reading Casey, West System and surfing the net looking for information. One approach – sand edges of damaged area to a beveled edge, apply filler (resin+hardener+fairing filler), sand then paint. Any thoughts, ideas?
