Looks like a good project to learn about gel coat repair.

Fill and sand. Then apply gel coat and cover with plastic wrap..

If it comes out bad.... Then sand back and paint instead. If you don't
have a paint job planned and the gel coat is otherwise in good shape
then repair the gel coat.

Good Morning all:

Impulsive broke free last fall during a nasty storm and pounding herself
against the finger before I could tie her down.  The attached shows the
damage to the starboard corner of the transom.  Been reading Casey, West
System and surfing the net looking for information. One approach - sand
edges of damaged area to a beveled edge, apply filler
(resin+hardener+fairing filler), sand then paint.  

Any thoughts, ideas?
