Tony, another option besides all these mounting ideas is to replace the depth 
gauge with an original unit, assuming it's a bad gauge and not a defective 
transducer that fried it in the first place.  I've replaced all my original 
Catalina equipment with Raymarine ST60 stuff, so I find myself with good used 
parts for sale pretty reasonably.  Let me know if you want to try that route.
