Russ, If you use the Pipe and Oil idea... You don't need a PUCK type ( called a "IN or ON hull" ) Any kind of transducer should work..
The First time I used the IN hull idea.. The Transducer was the TRANSOM type... As long as there is a FLAT surface on the bottom of the transducer... It should work just fine/./. Actually, You can put the transducer on a rope and throw it over the side.. LOL.. West Marine (and others) carry most manufacturer's transducers. Also what size pvc did you use. I've heard of using a 4" pvc male adapter, gluing it under the port settee as far forward as possible and filling it with mineral oil, and then screwing on a female type 4" end cap. The vasoline sounds like a better idea. Where did you locate the puck and do you have any pictures? I've been trying to get the time to install my 250C Garmin that I was going to mount on a swinging arm just inside the cabin on the starboard side so it can be viewed from the wheel (hopefully) and also so it will swing inside out of the weather when not in use. My buddy is a blue water delivery captain and when we sailed from La Paz to Mazatlan the arrangement was really handy. Thanks Russ
