Greetings. This is the Syracuse Area Rare Bird Alert for the week of 
November 11, 2013

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------

     11/16: At least 37 SANDHILL CRANES were seen from East Road. A large 
number of TUNDRA SWANS were present also. A GLOSSY IBIS was seen at the 
Visitor’s Center.


Oswego County
------------

     11/17: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was spotted at the intersection of Sherman and 
South Daysville Roads near Mexico.
     11/18: A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen from Fort Ontario in Oswego.


Onondaga County
------------

     11/14: an ICELAND GULL was seen at the end of the Creekwalk on Onondaga 
Lake. 
     11/16: A late SORA was seen along the Creekwalk near Carousel Center in 
Syaracuse.
     11/18: A SHORT-EARED OWL was seen on Caughdenoy Road south of Brewerton.


Madison County
------------

     11/17: An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and three ICELAND GULLS in 
various stages were seen at the Madison County Landfill.


Extralimital
------------

     11/16: The RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD on Mynderse Street in Seneca Falls was 
banded and reportedly was back at the feeder in half an hour.
