No you can't, but it is strange that the dvd+rw-tools doesn't allow
you to burn.

Yes, definitively, cdrecord-prodvd is more complete version created by
the author of cdrecord, however this version is not free and this the
reason of the dvdhack patch based originally on a Nicolae Mihalache
patch: to have a free way to burn DVD under linux.
