Yeah, it didn't exactly come out right because I was so emotional about the
subject <*sorry*>.
I was suggesting that the police not be the only thing one relies on for
protection, because they can't always be there all the time when you need
protection. They are certainly needed by everyone to keep the peace under
normal circumstances. I need the police under normal circumstances, too.
In fact, I just called them a month or so ago.
ALWAYS live within the law, and utilize its services as you need them. That
doesn't make you a wimp at all; it makes you a citizen lucky enough to have
a police force that cares enough to respond. My earlier point in this
thread was that it is each person's responsibility to handle their own
protection as their first line of defense, rather than their last.
Boy, it sure would have been better if I'd said it that way the first time,
eh?
