The problem with this is twofold.
1. People have been getting these lists for years for free and will
not be happy paying for it. They would move to another list or just
not bother.
2. I always feel bad asking people to pay for something. As is, I'm in
the depths of depression over finances and the only reason I even
think of a donation drive is that the move has to be made. The dinky
server that's hosting everything at the moment just doesn't have the
power to handle the increase I've slated.
When I say I've slated, I've made a LOT of improvements to the site
and lists and have gotten them out into a lot of places. This has
resulted in a nice increase in list subscriptions and site visits. We
get over 10,000 100% legal page impressions a day with at least 3
times that with spiders and non-legal ones (legal means recognised web
browsers from as defined by google). This is an increase of almost
2,000 from a month ago, which says my work is paying off. We may well
hit 15,000 by summers end and if the site is not moved over by then,
it'll crash. No question about that.
I was talking to some companies about sponsoring the site, lists or
other things but the bottom line is, beyond community support, what is
the return? What do they get out of it other than name recognition.
Does it get them more sales? That's what they want to know and truth
be told, I can't tell them. I can only point to views, clicks and
subscribers.

Just a thought Mike, I know you like to provide the lists free of charge,

but have you contemplated a small subscription fee? I know for myself, I

would pay to belong to the list for the meer fact that it saves me time when

I am troubleshooting a question and thus money.

What are your thoughts on that?
