that the first weekend's box office will eclipse the Passion of
Christ. In the audience were a number (well about 100) members of
the local Republican Party who had been given tickets. As expected
there were a lot of boos as the story unfolded. Moore never claimed
anything but an op-ed but no one has been able to refute his facts,
even though they are emphasized Some can claim that not all the
facts were presented only those favorable to the view of Michael
Moore, but isn't that how the prosecution presents its case to a jury?
Only the evidence favorable to the prosecution? My mind wan't
changed because I have been against Bush for a long time as little
seeps out here and there. But it was fascinating to see the impact on
the Republicans that were present. I think many of them got a real
jolt, while others will ignore the facts or just pursue single issue
beliefs.
Were it not for the Republican Majority in the House and the
corruption of House Speaker Tom Delay, a bill of impeachment would be
a cakewalk. Add to that the arrogance of the Vice President sitting
as the President of the senate and his corruption, there is no
solution available until November 3. If the people who are casual
about whether or not they vote do not make the effort, then we will
have 4 more years of this corruption. The United States can bear only
so many enemies and is vulnerable on a number of fronts, one
especially trade and tariffs. We are in for some really bad years
ahead if this administration stays in office.
The theatre managers are receiving death threats for just agreeing to
show the movie, and many have refused to do so, although with its
initial popularity, money will start talking and more theatres will
pick it up, I would think.
The Documentary carries a strong political statement against Bush and
his administration, it reveals corruption at the highest levels, and
will, of course, do nothing to improve this country's relations with
her allies.
CNN quoted Bush as saying today, "The only poll that concerns me is
the one in November" Who really can tell if any minds were changed?
Doug
But I'd
sincerely be quite interested in hearing from someone who has seen the
movie who did not already think Bush had to go. There may be a lot of
preachnig to the converted going on.
