If you are not opposed to it, then that would sound like a big crock of you
know what to you.
But, I have a 7 year old son, who I am raising in a Christian household. I
teach him to love and respect everyone (not matter what color, race, sex and
sexual preference :) )
However, when he asks me. "Mommy what is sex?" (Yes, they ask at 7) My
answer is "Sex is something that a man and a women does who loves each other
and who is married. It is pleasurable. And we do not believe in sex outside
of marriage because we are Christians" Blah Blah Blah. (Those aren't my
exact words...but you get the gist).
Me, along with everyone else who share those views are creating a standard
for our children to live by, thus creating a sense of community for them to
live by based on our religious beliefs. No group of people should force us
to change that!!!!!!!
Now, when my son comes home and says 'Mommy, I saw two men kissing on tv" Or
I met a boy at school who has two daddy's, blah blah blah. This threatens
the value of life, the value of the sense of "community" that I have
estabished for me and my family.
And this isn't just regarding gay issues. I think the American society is
over-exposed, over-fed, over-sexed, too open and "moral-less" and
"value-less". And it is getting rather sickening. A modern day Sodom and
Gomorrah.
This is what has a lot of people up in arms.
How far do we go? Do we have no limits?

You are assuming that a person opposing gay marriage is concerned with their
own rights, and this is most likely not true. If allowing marriage to
encompass all sorts of "fringe" groups in the eyes of a married man and
woman somehow dilutes the institution they are a part of, then i can see how
they would most CERTAINLY see this as having an affect on them.
Whether they are right or wrong is the crux of the debate, but to say it has
no affect on currently married men and women is just not true.

And I don't see that allowing 2 people over their to marry affects your
rights at all. Unless you are afraid you will be forced into a gay marriage.
That (and only that) would affect you.
