Subject: Re: Developments in Israel

Okay, I've been trying to refrain from jumping into politics on this list,
but I have to here.

Mike, with an attitude like this, how in the world will there EVER be
peace? It seems that all we hear from Israel (paraphrased by you below) is
that the situation is hopeless, and the only option is to wipe every Arab
who opposes an Israeli state out. As if Israel bears no responsibility for
escalating tensions in the region. The information you describe below
(probably from Arutz Sheva), would seem much worse considering that before
being forced to accept a peace, Sharon was actually stepping up OFFENSIVE
(the operative word being OFFENSIVE) attacks against the Palestinians.

The only thing I heard coming from the Israeli press all last week and this
week was "See? Look how we told you so?". What was shockingly absent
from the Israeli view was a way of solving this problem peacefully.

I am particularly impressed with how the US is handling this
situation. They know that brute force "Mine is bigger than yours"
offensives are pointless in this war. Terrorism has to be weeded out from
the inside. We have to create terrorist counter-spys, essentially pay off
those who would do evil, and infiltrate these organizations from the inside
out. This is the only way we will have peace.....then the Israelis can
live in peace, and put their tanks away once and for all.....
