This brings up an important point - You cannot force companies, or
people, to be nice. For example, it sucks that Nike pays these people
pennies an hour, but if it's legal in their country, than Nike isn't
breaking the law. Yes, Nike _should_ pay more, but they don't. This is
kind of off topic now, but it seems to me that we need to remember that
we can't force niceness. Consider Microsoft. They are changing their
licensing schemes. From what I see, it sucks. Is it illegal, no. Shoot,
if you want to hire me as a CF developer, I can charge $500 an hour.
There is nothing wrong with that. Of course, I probably won't get hired
at that rate (err.... but if anyone DOES want to pay me that, give me a
ring ;), but it's my choice.

Another question - if these people Nike are employing are not happy with
what they are getting paid, then why do they work there? If it's the
best job around.... then what's the problem? If every person were to
walk off the assembly line, Nike would be forced to pay better wages, or
leave the country. If the next country did the same thing, Nike would
eventually get the idea.

One thing I've not seen is a comparison on cost of living in the
countries where Nike hires people. (Of course, I am limiting this
discussion to pay wages. Child labor should _never_ be used. I know in
some cases kids _have_ to work to help support their family, but it
should be only as a last resort.)
