At least we step in to help. We aren't turning 1000 refugees away from our shores when they were in need of medical care. We at least will take them in, breifly, get them the care they need and then send them home, if necessary. Otherwise they can stay here as refugees. I suggest before you start critisizing the United States for trying to be a member of the world community, you take as close a look at your country's activities. I think a Canadian cartoonist put it best in this cartoon http://ars.userfriendly.org/cartoons/?id=19990606. Remember, many of these "American" companies have large portions owned by European or Asian investors to whom they must answer. While the company might be headquartered in the US, board members might hail from Japan or Britian or Germany OR EVEN Australia.
