There is a difference between:

        Ford makes a bad car. User drives it. User dies.

and

        Smith and Wesson makes a good gun (ie, works properly). User
uses it to kill someone. Then they sue Smith and Wesson.

People seem to confuse these cases. In the second case, the gun was
perfectly fine. It was the use of the gun that was illegal. In the first
case, a manufacturing defect caused the accident, therefore the
manufacturer is defintely at fault.

Furthermore - Ford says that their car is safe. Therefore, they were
wrong. I'm sure Smith and Wesson never denied that their guns fired
bullets.
