Enough of all this religion and politics. Let's get on a topic that people REALLY feel strongly about.

What style is your living space? What do you like in interior design? (Does anyone actually like "Southern country")

My apartment is decorated in a Japanese style with a little bit of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West's feel. Someone truly familiar with Japanese style would probably not like it, but I do.

Does anyone else find it difficult to find affordable, quality pieces that fit your style? I have ended up making most of my furniture and accessories because of this.

I am in the middle of making a nice step tansu to house my electronics and games (the carcass is finished, but the drawers and doors are missing).
3 walls of my living room are covered in oak-and-paper shoji screens.
My bedroom has a nice low (hard) futon bed.
The lighting is a mix of paper globes, cloth shades and wood-and-copper fixtures.
I've got a nice copper cut out (projection map) of the earth backed by a blue flagstone endless waterfall.
Lots of accessories are from Boston's Chinatown, Pier 1, the Portland OR Saturday Market, and yard sales.
My computer table is a low kneeling 4x4 foot table with 15" flat screens.
My eating table is a bar-height 3x4 foot oak table that is always set for 3. The chairs are wicker-and-iron bar stools from Pier-1.

What do you have? Eclectic mixes? Well-defined styles? Does anyone else care?
