That's asinine. No one threatened violence. I assume everyone read it for the joke it was.
Of course the intentions matter to the parents. It matters to everyone. Walking up to a child with a bomb and detonating it is not the same as accidentally killing a child with a stray bullet in a combat zone. For many reasons. For one thing, the accidental killing is regretted, and will probably be accompanied by steps to minimize such accidents in the future. I will stop now, or I will actually say something I regret. And regardless of what the intentions were the parents will now vow to kill perpetrators. And so the cycle will continue.
