the fact that one's synthetic and one's natural doesn't really go all that far towards saying one is "safe" and one isn't. not an apples to apples comparison.
i can pretty confidently say that i probably never would have even tried coke if i had never smoked weed. different 'crowd'? Maybe (but maybe not). Different high? definitely. Safer? I don't think so. Being stoned may be a different high than being drunk...but I wouldnt want my daughters in the back seat of a car being driven by somebody who was stoned (I assume your earlier question about driving drunk vs driving stoned was meant to imply that it's "safer" to drive stoned...if i've misinterpreted, my bad).
