I think some people are easily offended. On the other hand I think that it is wise to be cautious in making statements about groups to which one does not oneself belong. For instance, around here there was a big outcry about beer advertising billboards that said "Finally, a cold Latina." The company expressed surprise that this was offensie but pulled the ads. Women were saying that the stereotype of the hot-blooded passionate (and impetuous and illogical) Latina was a stereotype, and I suppose it is at that.
