I don't get it, in one paragraph you state that the graphics aren't
important and you have other measures of "quality", and then state that the
game relies of graphics entirely and wouldn't be playable without them,
please, make your mind up. Are graphics important to you or are they just
the "eye candy" you mention later?

Yes they could, they just wouldn't have looked as pretty, graphics again...

There were analogue sticks on the PSOne that were used in the majority of
later games, admitidly not so much (if at all) in the earlier games because
the analogue controller didn't exist in the beginning.

The interface wasn't available I will grant you that, but the processing
power required is nimimul, there is no motion capture being performed just a
simple motion tracking system that your average pocket calculator could
handle.

Graphics again...

Yes, but mostly the graphics are the reason to upgrade or switch console. A
driving game on the dreamcast or PSOne can have just as good handeling, just
as chalenging oponents, and all the other gameplay stuff, but will never be
able to look as sweet. The same aplies to a beat-em-up or any other genre
you like. When talking about splinter cell at the top of this mail you
yourself state that the games main problem on older hardware would be the
inability for the graphics engine to display the required information to the
user.

At the end of the day I understand your desire to defend your ownership of
the PS2 in the same way the owner of ANY car will defend it and tell you how
great it is even when it is a rust bucket, it is the basic human desire to
protect what we own and the distaste for admitting hard earned cash went on
a datsun.

I own a PS2, 2 GameCubes, 2 Xboxes, a PSOne, an N64, I even have an Atari
2600, without doubt the PS2 gets the least use of the first 4 in the list,
there are a few CG exclusives I play but almost every other game I play is
cross platform or Xbox exclusive (KOTOR, Fable, Links) so the Xbox gets the
use.

This will be my last post on this subject because it is about to de-generate
into a slagging match that I don't want to be accused of starting ;-)
