I agree, sorry, I was responding with the fact that many of us are trained in various ways and the bravado of the preceding emails. I was making a two, albeit subtle, points. One. Labeling someone a liberal, as I have been in here, is not very fair or black and white. I am pretty centrist I feel. Two. I have NEVER said we should not retaliate, I am saying I think we are going about it wrong and the reason is that we want to make Americans feel good in the short run, even if what we are doing has no lasting effect, which is what I think. Bush wants to get re-elected, so do the people with him in office. As a concealed weapon carrier you more than anyone should know the responsibility of what your actions with you gun can have. If you are hit in the face, or attacked by a person with a gun, and you fire 10 rounds and kill nine innocents (a mom, a baby, two kids, one person who "might" become a thief later in life, etc.) and and wound the attacker, what do you think will happen to you? How would you feel about that? What would the American people think of you? We need to stop the threat, agreed. I did not say that I would just turn the other cheek, I am not a Christian. I raise the point that this country, at least as stated by others in this group, is based on that. Only Bush, his press conferences, use a lot of Old Testament "evildoers" rhetoric. "Evildoers"? Sounds like a Batman comic. I would, however, not go off half-cocked and kill the person for hitting me and killing his whole family and neighborhood. Do you think attacking Afghanistan is going to end that threat? Does Israel attacking the Palestinians end the threat? Has all that killing stopped "terrorism". Tell you what, you won't find me in a restaurant or bus stop in Jerusalem anytime soon. The "...having the ability to do so"? Listen, it costs only $4000, $5000 if you are slow, to learn to fly a plane AND get your certificate. That is cheap. I have seen stuff about money being wired around to the terrorists. We are not talking millions here. We are talking thousands. There are a lot of people who hate this country and who could terrorize it pretty cheaply if they choose to. Pissing off the Arab world by attacking Afghanistan is not going to stop that. Marcus, I trully wish I knew all the answers, that would make all this very easy. Only, I feel we MUST not do the wrong, rash thing here. Maybe some talk BEFORE all this would have been better. Maybe using the international goodwill we do have to bring him to justice would have been better. You know, I could be wrong in everything I say. I just think that getting him now and bombing Afghanistan and trying to knock out the Taliban will not work. Someone else will come along and lead these misguided people.
